Health Benefits of White Rice

By now, most of us know that rice provides essential vitamins and nutrients, and according to the USDA, eating whole grains, such as rice, provides many health benefits in addition to reducing the risk of some chronic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and high blood pressure.  Additionally, consuming at least three ounce equivalents per day of whole grains could help manage your weight.

As with all rice types, white rice is a naturally gluten, sodium, and cholesterol free food.  Additionally, only trace amounts of fat can be found in rice, which contains no trans or saturated fat.

Enriched white rice has added thiamin, iron, niacin, and folic acid to restore these nutrients after processing.
